Suicide Awareness Training Description

This 2-hour Suicide Awareness was developed by and for SC FAST (SC First Responder Assistance and Support Team) to educate First Responders to an awareness level understanding of suicide.

With training and education, we hope to cultivate prevention and understanding the aftereffects of civilian and first responder suicide.

By sharing current data on first responder suicide, what may cause it, and the responsibility we have to protect ourselves and each other can help save lives.

Learning the signs to watch for in themselves and others to help prevent suicide empowers students to meet the challenges of our lives on and off the job when it comes to suicide.

We will be spending class time learning some of the risk factors and protective factors. Those are important pieces of caring for yourselves and others. The class will offer simple tools for surviving the trauma all first responders witness either first or second hand.
